What is a Company Emergency Plan?

A company emergency plan is a mandatory document that sets out exactly how your organisation responds to emergencies such as fire, evacuation, power failure, hazardous substances or medical incidents. Under the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and the Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit), every employer is required to safeguard the safety of employees and map out risks.

Why is a company emergency plan important?

  • Legally required for every organisation.
  • Managing risks – insight into weak spots and clear procedures.
  • Fast & effective action – who does what, who alerts whom?
  • Safe workplace – confidence among employees and visitors.
  • Good communication – less chaos in crisis situations.
